Inter Miami

This project involved the rapid design and construction of a professional soccer training facility for the new MLS expansion team, Inter Miami CF. We were brought on as part of the project team to undertake the ambitious task of developing a high-end training facility across a 60-acre complex within a 1½-year timeframe. The project was successfully completed and has been in operation since March 2020.

Our involvement began with the design of the fields, which included addressing elevation constraints, specialized drainage, underground infrastructure requirements, and coordinating work among multiple contractors while effectively phasing each task. The design comprised four natural grass pitches for academy teams, two professional pitches, a synthetic pitch, and a stadium pitch.

Once our design was integrated into the project drawings, we coordinated our activities with the team ownership and the construction manager/general contractor (Moss) appointed to oversee the project. The pitches were surrounded by concrete walkways, landscaping, and essential site infrastructure. We also managed all activities interfacing with the fields, including the installation of specialized underdrain systems, growing media, irrigation systems, and laser grading. Each task was meticulously sequenced to align with surrounding work, emphasizing the importance of logistical coordination.

Constructing the natural grass pitches while the overall project was underway was crucial, as the grass needed time to establish a strong root structure for optimal performance and safety. Typically, the installation of fields occurs towards the end of projects of this scale; however, due to the tight timeline, we executed this work concurrently. Additionally, we handled the installation of customized netting systems and sports lighting.

We successfully completed the installation of the pitches, the synthetic turf field, and all related sports infrastructure. We also managed the development and maintenance of the natural grass fields, utilizing temporary systems until the complex was fully finalized. Our ability to mobilize a trained workforce from our other project locations enabled us to complete this complex project ahead of schedule.
